Paris Saint-Germain are willing to offer Toby Alderweireld £10m a season in salary to leave Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail.
What’s the latest?
The Belgium defender has been a regular among the transfer gossip pages over the last few weeks and months.
Unlike the majority of his teammates, the 29-year-old is yet to sign a new contract at the North London outfit.
The story surrounding his future has taken a new twist as the Daily Mail claim that PSG are prepared to meet Alderweireld’s wage demands.
The publication states that the centre-back is after a salary close to £200,000 a week, which is around double what Harry Kane currently earns.
It is also believed that Spurs are unwilling to table a long-term contract due to Alderweireld’s age, but the former Atletico Madrid player wants a five-year deal.
Is it all about money?
If the Belgian does decide to leave Tottenham then only he will know the real reason behind it, but plenty of media speculation seems to be centred around wages.

It is widely known that Spurs have a modest salary structure compared to their competitors, and with chairman Daniel Levy running the ship, he is unlikely to be swayed.
Alderweireld will certainly get the pay package that he desires if he joins PSG, but Tottenham are on the crest of a wave and giving up the chance to be part of the club’s new chapter next season is a risk.
Having said that, moving to Parc des Princes is certainly a step up given that the club dominate Ligue 1, and the defender will be playing alongside world-class talent like Neymar.
