Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to hammer Fabinho for his performance in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.
The Brazil international made an error for Ross Barkley’s goal after failing to stop the former Everton man in his tracks, while his overall display was a very concerning one.
The former Monaco star also picked up a yellow card at Stamford Bridge, on an evening where he made just one interception and committed two fouls – the fact that he was handed a rating of just 5.49 by WhoScored, the lowest of any player involved in the game, speaks volumes.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are now out of the FA Cup, and are staring the prospect of exiting the Champions League in the face as well having lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the last 16 – their season very much hangs in the balance, with only the Super Cup, Club World Cup and the expected Premier League title to show for their efforts.
Usually that would be more than enough, but given the fact that this is arguably one of the greatest sides we’ve seen in England, you feel like they could’ve achieved more this term.
Anyway, let’s take a look at what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Fabinho…
To kick off the reaction, Fabinho was told that he plays in slow motion, looks like he’s running in treacle and is also a donkey – ouch.
In fairness to the former Real Madrid man, he did only return from injury towards the end of January, so perhaps he is still feeling his way back into the fold.
Elsewhere, the Brazilian’s form since returning from injury was even compared to that of ex-Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing, who is now at Blackpool.
No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?
Another fan even said that they would rather see Pedro Chirivella – a player who has spent most of the campaign in the U23 ranks – come in and start ahead of Fabinho.
In other news, Troy Deeney was filmed poking fun at Virgil van Dijk in the tunnel before Watford beat Liverpool…
