Monza managed to take a two-goal lead right at the end of the first half, as Matteo Pessina converted a penalty in the 45th minute. Then, in stoppage time, Dany Mota doubled their advantage. Milan were left with a mountain to climb when Luka Jovic was sent off for elbowing an opponent, but ex-Chelsea stars Pulisic and Giroud combined to give them a chance. Incredibly, Pulisic managed to score an equaliser late on but Monza responded with two goals after the 90th minute to seal a 4-2 win.
WHAT NEXT FOR AC MILAN?
Losing the Serie A clash deals a huge blow to the San Siro side, leaving them 11 points behind league leaders Inter, who have a game in hand. Despite the rough display, they will be confident of progressing in the Europa League on Thursday as they take on Rennes in the second leg of their play-off tie having won 3-0 against the French side last week.
