According to The Metro, Manchester United could face the prospect of losing Angel Gomes after Chelsea registered an interest in the starlet.
What’s the word?
The youngster has broken through to the first-team this season alongside the likes of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams, but he has found his opportunities more restricted than that pair, with six appearances in total.
Despite that, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club are keen to keep him at Old Trafford long-term, and have offered him a contract believed to be worth £25,000 a week in a bid to keep him, with his current deal set to expire in the summer.
However, the 19-year-old’s representatives are said to be disappointed with the offer, and as a result, Gomes seems unlikely to sign at this current time. He may also be influenced by the interest of Chelsea, as they are willing to offer the same terms but also a role in Frank Lampard’s first-team squad.
Difficult situation
While Gomes has age on his side being only 19, the Red Devils understandably don’t want to be held to ransom by a player who is yet to prove himself at senior level.
After all, Greenwood put pen to a paper on a new deal earlier this season and showed the right attitude to learn and seize his opportunity when it has come, which he has done with 12 goals this term.

Gomes, meanwhile, may have averaged 1.7 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game, according to WhoScored, but that has come in only three Europa League appearances.
If he can replicate the attitude shown by other young players at the club then he will likely get his chance, as Solskjaer has displayed a willingness to play youngsters.
